Derby #24: Invention
Hey, this Derby's over. When you're finished reliving past glories, check out what's going on in the Derby right now. It's probably even cooler. Or at least newer.
It's a good thing humanity evolved the capacity to invent, to conceive of new ways of doing things, to shape our surroundings to make us stronger, smarter, and happier. From the guns we use to shoot each other to the surgical tools we use to remove the bullets, this gift for invention has vaulted our naked, clawless species to the very zenith of nature's hierarchy. Can you imagine how difficult it must've been for Cro-Magnon man to get a sharp crease in his pants, back in the pre-steam iron era? This week we're celebrating invention in all its wondrous and mysterious forms. Your design doesn't have to be a Rube Goldberg-style contraption you dreamed up, or some flashy new electronic gadget (although those ideas are OK) - but it does have to deal, in some way, with invention, inventions, inventing, or inventors.
Oh...and please don't submit a design from a previous Derby without making changes that we deem sufficiently substantive to warrant a new entry. We're getting our fill of leftovers from network TV right now, thanks.
