Re: Hope Seed
What kind of seed/tree is it? (as in, botanically)

This reminds me of the fountain, a supremely sad and beautiful movie.

why cant you see?
its the rare avacadocherryjuniperbonsai!
Re: Hope Seed
Really very cool. I haven't decided for sure if I would wear/buy it, but gmv regardless.
Re: Hope Seed
another shirt I quite like, in a color I cannot wear. Well you get my vote and I can always just buy it for my nephew.
Re: Hope Seed
This might be me just being picky, but this is a tree-- not a sprout, so how can it be the beginning?
Re: Hope Seed
Ohh! Another tree! Along with the bird and turtle, the fog is set... all we need now is a Koi
Re: Hope Seed
Into the fog!
I love the style of this design, as well as the design itself. Nice job
Re: Hope Seed
This looks way too similar to 335 Woolloomoo Way for me.
snarkygal wrote:This looks way too similar to 335 Woolloomoo Way for me.
I agree. There's also the high probability that it wouldn't print well, as it uses a dark brown ink on a brown shirt, which is already dark to begin with.
Re: Hope Seed
A tree? A tree is beating out tgentry's biblical badassedry & jimiyo's gojira? WTFF? No offense, deucester, it's pretty & all, but wow.

crazy huh? : [
theinfinityloop wrote:This might be me just being picky, but this is a tree-- not a sprout, so how can it be the beginning?
agreed.
To take it further, I am not impressed to see yet more splatter to make an aspect of any your designs. It's boring and uninteresting.
Re: Hope Seed
The tree makes sense because it shows what the seed will become.
dekonstruct wrote:This reminds me of the fountain, a supremely sad movie.
fixed.
great design, though. got my vote.
I like it a lot. GMV!
Re: Hope Seed
Pretty, I suppose, but it looks like background noise. I don't think, walking past someone with this shirt, I'd take a second glance. It just lacks that punch.
Re: Hope Seed
This is an awesome tree.. I want it.. I really really want it.
Go Trees!
Re: Hope Seed
Love this design. My only concern is that the brown-on-brown might make it a little too hard to see if it was printed.
Re: Hope Seed
I have to hand it to you kdeuce..you keep using the same few graphic elements over and over and get huge vote totals every time. Wooters are incredibly stupid and have short memories

thanks. splotchytreeclipart.com. check it out. it's great.

taking lessons from cheese, are you? XP
seriously... can you please find a way to create without adding splatter, smears, or unnecessary stains all over? I mean really... pick up the game. The Otaku Twins are beating you now and I really don't know which is worse at this point.

I just want to commend you on your good-natured responses, kdeuce. You get a lot of koi in your threads: most of it, imho, unwarranted.

Seriously, what is wrong with the inky style? You may consider it needless or unnecessary, but it adds a distinctive visual flavour to his designs. I certainly couldn't add such splatters to a design and still have it look natural. kdeuce does it with infinite skill, and it looks good on the shirt.
This is my favorite shirt in the derby. If you make it back in the fog I'll most certainly by it. SO many of the shirts here are just not very wearable and seem more like they belong on a webcomic than a design contest. Your design is a breath of fresh air to worn out contest. Great work.
IndependentVik wrote:I just want to commend you on your good-natured responses, kdeuce. You get a lot of koi in your threads: most of it, imho, unwarranted.
thanks. it's more good than bad most of the time which is cool. there's always that handful of haters who find their way to my threads to take a dump but that got old quick.
Re: Hope Seed
Cant you people see this is the best t-shirt here?!?? Vote for it you FREAKS! (freaks in a good way, no insults intended)
theinfinityloop wrote:This might be me just being picky, but this is a tree-- not a sprout, so how can it be the beginning?
Its a tree coming from a srout, showing the process from the beginning, how would this shirt look with just a sprout in the middle of the page?

Wow, I keep posting then reading more posts and I cant resist posting more! I mean, seriously if your going to post something as rude as the above your obviously mentally deranged or something (again, in a good way). Paint splatter is an art-form. When you insult this you insult me so keep such unruly and ignorant comments to yourselves (may I remind you that ignorance is bliss).
kdeuce wrote:thanks. it's more good than bad most of the time which is cool. there's always that handful of haters who find their way to my threads to take a dump but that got old quick.
I can't speak for all the haters... but I can speak for this one. I like it a lot. It has a distinctive style that is broadly appealing (regardless of whether some think it is redundant).
My only concern is the same as eHal's... dark ink printed on dark shirt and you loose too much of the detail. Still a good design people; don't hate!
Re: Hope Seed
i love this shirt so much! I want it! Why did it fall from the fog? Oh yeah, cause most wooters have no taste for art. I personally think that the dark on dark makes the shirt subtle. Anyone who has any sense of style WOULD stop and take a second look at this shirt. If they don't, then I don't need their attention.
Re: Hope Seed
I really wanted this shirt. Really. And was so happy when I saw it in the fog. But then entirely depressed when I saw that something a lot less creative and beautiful took its place.
I'll be upset for days if this doesn't win.

Agreed. I really wanted to see this shirt stay in the fog. This one's my favorite design of this derby. It'll be a shame if I don't get to have one.

Agreed.. a downright shame!

Is subtle your code word for "CAN'T SEE IT?"
Subtle is the skull on the Grim Optimism shirt. I can almost guarantee that this would be about as bad, visibility wise, as Yay Broccoli was before woot fixed it.
You can do dark on dark. It's a matter of doing it while it still being visible.
Saying wooters have no taste for art is quickly becoming a trite statement. At least half of the fog is good art. As much as 3/4 of the fog could be considered art. There are several shirts a couple of places below this that are also good art.
It's easy to say wooters have no taste for art. It's just as easy to say that wooters have no taste for things they find unappealing. Art can be unappealing.
This shirt has several critiques involving the splotches and the color on color potential for problems.

You're a comedian. Are you suggesting that people can critique a shirt for having "splotches" but I can't have an opinion as to what I consider good art? I was merely suggesting that some people have bad taste. That (obviously) is an opinion based on my own taste. I meant no ill will or disrespect. I just get disappointed when I see shirts I like not make the grade. It happens.
But I seriously appreciate your reply to my message. You may be right about the shirt not printing well.

You can have the opinion, but the counter-opinion is just as valid when that's as far as the conversation goes.
I also get highly disappointed when shirts I like don't print or fog. It happens a lot. Too much for my taste.
I was pointing out that while it it definitely art, there are some issues that, in my mind, hold it back from being "good" art. I don't think it's BAD art or even mediocre art, but it has a few flaws that serve serious problems as a shirt.
