This looks really neat. I feel like it might look a little better on the left side of the shirt. Just my opinion though.

How is it not related, do you not see the carbon molecular structure there?

That's science. This is supposed to be scientific method: a theory, an experiment, someone hypothesizing an idea, trying out things. A carbon molecule on a shirt does none of these things.

You find out about molecule structure by scientific method. It does not have to be so in-your-face.

Re: Made of carbon

While I think it's a cool looking shirt, I don't feel that it sufficiently fits the theme. This just appears to be very generic, and your explanation that "you find out the carbon structure with the scientific method" seems to be a bit of a stretch.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the random circles and lines thrown in there, and if the shirt was more heavily focused on the carbon structure, I could get behind this shirt. As is though, the carbon in there seems lost in the drawing unless you know what you're looking for.

I'm not sure I understand what is going on in the design. You have the molecule structure, which seems to be turning into a sky blue plant. There is what looks to be a butterfly to the right of it.

Other than that I don't get the significance of the rest of the design and frankly it just looks a bit messy in my opinion. It seems like it could have been a cool concept, I just don't understand the color choices or what the connection is between the living things 'made of carbon' and the rest of your details.

Woot rarely rejects shirts that are in the fog. And you have to look at this economically. If people vote for it, then they want the shirt. Is it in Woot's best interest to reject a shirt that a lot of people want? No, since if this wins they will sell a lot more of it since people want it. The shirts with the most votes are the best sellers since people want them.

Please. Considering how many shirts woot sells, we're talking chump change between this (if it prints) and whatever shirt it bumps from the top three. In the end, woot sells lots of shirts. Check out the reckoning. Likewise, shirts that print in double-takes and EC's often outsell a whole slew of shirts that got more votes before. That's not looking at it economically. It's focusing on one minute piece of info that goes against what years of reality have shown.

And besides, if what you're saying were the case, why have themes at all? Why not just pull what teefury does and sell a daily IP theft that would be sure to sell out? Woot wants to have derby themes, so it's in their best interest to enforce them. Not to mention, it's also in the interest of the artists who actually attempt to work within the theme.

This is a horrendous view. And this is as generic a shirt as there can be. I'm not sure why this is the scientific method. For all of you people who say "It has carbon on it and the only way you know what carbon looks like is the scientific method"...seriously? How far are you willing to stretch the rules? (Seeing how popular Ramy's stuff is, I guess pretty far)

Had to doublecheck the name on the design, thought it was a Ramy for sure from the thumb.

Glad to see more off-topic generic pandering shirts on here, though...

I find it a very artistic depiction of carbon based life forms. The subtlety with which the design portrays the idea is quite nice. I enjoy when someone looks at a shirt I'm wearing and thinks "oh that's a cool design." Then after looking a little closer goes: "oh wow, I didn't notice that before." True it is a stretch from the scientific method, but I'd buy the shirt.

His point is that all life is carbon based. So you have carbon blending into plants blending into an animal. I like it a lot. Frankly, I couldn't care less if it doesn't fit the theme perfectly. It's a cool shirt and I will buy it if it is printed.

That's a bit of specious logic...but it is true that shirts that fog are more LIKELY to sell a decent amount of shirts. Unfortunately, the "few fog rejections" stands true - I don't know what motivates that, but it is rather annoying at times.

Last week they removed an entry 20 minutes before votes closed. If you're trying to say it still being unrejected means it's ok, that's erroneous.

Indeed they do, but in carbon rings, each carbon atom makes one single bond and one double bond to the two adjacent carbon atoms.

I really wish the carbon chain was more dominant in this. Everything else draws away the focus so you really can't tell at first glance that it's a chain.

Perhaps use different colors to show the focus is the chain?

How could you possibly call these themed derbies not generic? 9/10, no 19/20 shirts submitted to each derby is some stupid joke or "funny" shirt in a harshing my mellow attempt to live up to the theme. It is shirts like this that I get ecstatic to see are in the fog. It is those rare, artistic shirts that I buy, rather than the stupid generic pathetic attempts at humor. What sort of a harshing my mellow-gallivanting alpaca wants to wear a joke on his or her shirt?

Why not reject a shirt in the fog? Let's base it on the the potential 200+ complaints that they might have to deal with from the "I don't care about the rules, I want that shirt" crowd. As opposed to ignoring the ten people who complain that it doesn't fit the rules.
Plus there is generally more of your more popular (better selling) artists in the fog, and I'm sure Woot doesn't upset their better performing "talent".

Aside from the debate as to whether this is on theme or not, I can't get behind this shirt. It appears to me to be constructed from various stock vectors and brushes, which means it's less art, and more compilation. Doesn't really float my boat.

I like this shirt a lot. Very aesthetically pleasing for one, and I dig the color scheme. I can see where people are coming from saying that it is "not on theme", but I get it-- butterflies and plants (and all living things) are made of carbon. Artistic and subtle, I love it.

Isn't glucose made of carbon rings? My organic chemistry is rusty though. |

Either way, beautiful design though I'm not overly fond of the circles. The carbon into the the plant/butterfly is good enough for me to wear it though.

Wait...those are circles? I thought that was an Ocean Pacific shirt. Op

(Sorry...I guess it was mean, but I couldn't help but laugh when my mind went back to the 80's with this design. Man...now I wish there was a Panama Jack reference out there.)
