Re: The Green Apple

Hi! I'm a delicious green apple (granny smith yum) wearing a bowtie. Any resemblance to any superhero logo is completely in your head.

I was wondering if someone would do a green lantern shirt.

Yeah, I tried to resist but couldn't. In my defense, I'm a big GL fan from way back (Neal Adams drug ref series was awesome).

I can't wait but am also understandably nervous based on actor choice and the previews.

Absolutely love that you went for the shirt design, +1.

Absolutely hate that any knowledgeable GL fan is even humoring the idea that hollywood isn't going to ruin that movie, -1 nerd cred.

Yeah, my nostalgia gets in the way sometimes. I even found the Wolverine movie watchable.

Love this shirt, and love the heated debate you've started over which superhero movie was the worst. Well done, sir!

What the what?!? That movie single-handily brought superhero movies into the modern era. Classic.

That's pretty extreme. The first (at least) of X-men, Spiderman, and Ironman were all good.

Nah. Maybe if you've never read any Batman before Miller you might think that.

blinddog3d wrote:Keaton was gr8! I though he and Burton were a fantastic pair! A dark comedy. I like the Dark Knight, better, but that's apples & oranges (which is fitting for this derby).

Yup.

Good point. We wouldn't be on this kick of resurrecting every genxers childhood hero if it wouldn't for that pioneering movie.

Why does an apple have a windows logo on it?

Yeah, with everyone taling about green lantern/superhero movies I was wondering how long it was going to take someone to bring up the windows logo and the apparent lack of anything apple (which is what I was expecting).

Sweet! Two more trademarks accidentally violated!

I didn't even think of Windows' crappy logo but I did think that since this is an apple somebody would say something about Apple.

Dood. I mean, really? STOP already. This Derby specifically allowed pop culture references. Get off that horse, OK? It's too tall for you.

Compared to the Jack Black comedy vehicle Green Lantern that was getting pitched a few years before, you should be flipping out over what we're actually getting. If anything this GL Corps heavy movie is probably going to be too nerdy for the average filmgoer.

As a GL fan I think it'll be a great start.

Back on topic, this is a sweeet design. GMV.

first i'll start off by saying that i hate the green lantern (thatrobert is a cool artist though so nothing against his art, i just hate the character) so obviously when they started showing the trailer for this new lantern movie i laughed because it looked HIDEOUSLY AWFUL. I am a HUGE fan of captain america however, and so i was super excited to see the trailer for that movie. then i saw the trailer for cap am and i got a little less excited...then i saw the actor they picked to play cap am and got even less....then a new trailer for green lantern came out and it actually made the movie look a little better...then cap am came out with another trailer...basically to make this long story slightly shorter, the more i see of the lantern movie the more im interested in watching it, the more i see of captain america the less i want to see it.

i still hate the green lantern though.

Wow, I thought you were joking about the Jack Black thing. At least that's one bullet dodged!

I'm an even bigger Captain America fan but haven't been nearly as disgusted with the previews as you have. Again, the actor choice is pretty disappointing. But Captain America's origin and story arc is compelling enough that I think it will pull through.

Yeah me too. But if it doesn't make it, it doesn't have much of a future -- I'll admit this is a very topical design and would have only niche interest a couple months from now.
