Re: Combustible Prey
A thing of beauty!
Amazing illustration! This is really great ![]()
Re: Combustible Prey
the subtle texture really polishes off the design. nice job iloop!
Re: Combustible Prey
Like the way the charcoal worked out.
Re: Combustible Prey
This is wicked!! Love it.
Re: Combustible Prey
This is awesome, knew I'd be voting for it from the forum. Just hope Drakxxx doesn't submit too many more to push you out of the fog... :p

Don't worry, ramy did it for him.
Re: Combustible Prey
Yeah, I dig it! I haven't had time to design anything yet and have to leave in a few but I like this one so have a vote.
SailorButterfly wrote:Don't worry, ramy did it for him.
Yay, because the world needs another Ramyb shirt on Woot.
How many of their shirts have they had printed this year? Has it hit 15 yet?
Re: Combustible Prey
Sweet idea, and the illustration is great as always.
SailorButterfly wrote:Don't worry, ramy did it for him.
We're only 2 1/2 hrs into the derby - also this has moved back into the fog...
Great design and details here - would have been just as great if the coal had been marshmallows haha!
Re: Combustible Prey
Really nice, iLoop!
Re: Combustible Prey
What's that Blake poem about Lions and Charcoal?
(yeah I know Tygers)
This turned out great! Such a clever and cute idea.
re: combustible prey
great work infinity!
I love the lighting on the lion.

Re: Combustible Prey
I'll be really let down if this doesn't print. It's an excellent illustration that also fits wonderfully on the shirt. Try it elsewhere if it gets robbed here Loop.
Re: Combustible Prey
I have to say that I somehow missed this shirt. This design is pretty cool and has a much more steampunk feel than many of the other entries. Wouldn't mind seeing this print. I think it's cool enough that I'd get it. (would be nice having an asphalt shirt. I STILL don't have one. ;] )
Re: Combustible Prey
For some reason, it reminds me very much of Missmonster's Tentacle Tiger.

Come on folks!Get this back into the FOG!
Thanks everyone! I enjoyed working on this one more than I thought I would.
@tgentry - Don't worry, I'll try it out elsewhere.
@Jestik - That's a nice compliment! I've been perusing her work lately, so maybe she's rubbing off on me. ![]()

the portable barbeque pet?

ya, definitely meant as a compliment. I can't wait to get that Tentacle Tiger! Should be coming in the mail today I think. Missmonster is da bomb!
(and this is a great design, loop!)
Re: Combustible Prey
April this is beautiful, a super clever idea and well drawn. I love the detail in the lion's mane
SailorButterfly wrote:Don't worry, ramy did it for him.
Really nice work on the illustration! And kudos on keeping the design "within the printable area" For some reason, other designs (one of which is right on your arse in the derby) seem to be ignoring that rule, yet are safe from the rejector-nator.
Re: Combustible Prey
Wow, this is great. I love the concept and the illustration.
Re: Combustible Prey
nice job! love the mane!
SailorButterfly wrote:Don't worry, ramy did it for him.
Twice now, and his girlfriend is moving up the ranks to join them.
Because, you know, he needs the prints.
Re: Combustible Prey
Very much on theme and should be in the fog. Does theme mean nothing? Oh right, I forgot where I was. Good luck Loopy!
heartluce wrote:Very much on theme and should be in the fog. Does theme mean nothing? Oh right, I forgot where I was. Good luck Loopy!
ditto: needs fog!
Re: Combustible Prey
Well done, Loop! That was a tough scene to draw but you nailed it- it really looks like it's tearing in to that bag. Excellent work.
Re: Combustible Prey
I love it and did vote for it. But, am I the only that after looking at it for a bit think the tail looks a bit like it could be the right hind leg with a mangled foot? Only "negative" I have to say about this design.
Top notch.
Re: Combustible Prey
Definitely my favorite design so far in this derby. I love the way you managed to take something completely mechanical, and have it act like the animal it's made to represent.
I was really sad to see this one slip out of the fog - if it doesn't make it, I hope you submit it somewhere else (and let us know where)!
Thanks again guys for the votes and comments!
@chade2001 - Well, that would be cool, right?
@ChrisRisse - Thanks for suggesting them!
@Jestik - I like this one of hers. Echidna- Hunter
@ShirtFight - Thanks!! Designing the mane was my favorite part.
@dpbowl842 - Thank you. I probably should have made the top part of the tail a bit skinnier. That might have helped.
@vkrafft - I appreciate that! It's funny because I actually went about it the opposite way from what you said. I started with something living and organic and made it mechanical. lol
Re: Combustible Prey
Majestically awesome!
Re: Combustible Prey
Bummed that this got knocked out of the fog. I have nothing against the ramy/seki duo personally, but man is it ever difficult for some of the best work here to get printed when they're both entering a derby, sometimes with multiple entries. Right now, they're three out of four entries in the fog
Back on topic, loopy, really feeling this design. Great execution of a rather clever idea. When I first noticed that the coal in the lion's belly was aflame, I got hit w/ teh lulz.
Re: Combustible Prey
such a tragedy that guppy rules at woot too often. if this does not print i would gladly give it "support" elsewhere when the time is up.

Def. If it doesn't get printed here, take it to Cameesa.

They recently botched her print of gamer mother(which I am wearing today), and that is the third time that I've heard that they have seriously messed up a design. With that in mind, I'd stay away from Cameesa until they work out their kinks between them and their printer.
For the price, she could just as easily put it on Spreadshirt. $18 for T-shirt is a bit much.

Ack, what happened with that one? I really liked the idea of Cameesa and the one print I have from them (Khameleon) is quite good, even though they didn't manage to do the placement the artist intended.

When they seriously botch a print, though, supporters get TWO shirts.

Somehow the green in the couch was off even though I gave them pantones. It's not too bad. I was upset at first, but I got used to it. You can see pics here. http://theinfinityloop.blogspot.com/2009/04/cameesa-pics-and-trying-to-win-loitery.html
I wish this could get back into the fog, instead it drops further back. Sigh.

its only $10 to support a shirt, and shipping (for me at least) is only about $3. the edgar i got there is by far the most brilliant print ive gotten anywhere, so i wouldnt say they are entirely bad. i would buy there again without hesitation as there is nothing "wrong" with gamer mother really. i would have liked the green to be darker than it came out too, but its not like it was really botched terribly. every single one of these shirt sites has fouled the colors on designs from time to time. hell, woot is so regular at it that we know what kinds of colors not to even bother using anymore together.

Re: Combustible Prey
Did you build this on illustrator, photoshop or both?
Radscoolian wrote:Did you build this on illustrator, photoshop or both?
I hand drew it first, then I inked it and colored it in Photoshop.
theinfinityloop wrote:I hand drew it first, then I inked it and colored it in Photoshop.
It looks almost like vector art, its so smooth. I like photoshop, but a lot of the time you can tell that an artist was using the brushes. Good job

And you used a pad? I have been hand drawing, hand inking and then coloring on photoshop. I end up having to clean it up and I don't get the best line quality.

Thanks! Yeah, I have a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet.
Re: Combustible Prey
I wish this was in the fog.....so well done and by far my favorite in this week's derby.
I agree, the lineart is so smooth and well done. I saw the sketch and just love the flow and composition of the image.
Super well done...mad props to you, sir.
