Derby #69: Miniature Worlds
Hey, this Derby's over. When you're finished reliving past glories, check out what's going on in the Derby right now. It's probably even cooler. Or at least newer.
Now that Shirt.Woot's average shirt size has gotten smaller with the addition of kids' sizes, it's time to look at other things that are smaller than normal. This week, we want to see your look at a miniature world. Think back to when you were a kid and imagined being small enough to walk around under the fridge. Or that episode of The Twilight Zone where a guy wakes up in a doll house. Or Gary Larson's hat-wearing, TV-watching amoebas. Or ant construction workers driving backhoes and whistling at the ant ladies who walk by. Or the Earth as just one more piece of candy in a packet of cosmic Reese's Pieces. We're talking about huge contrasts of scale, about playing with our expectations of the relationship between tiny things and big things. You get the idea, right?
